We are currently working on a few tentative events. We are applying for our permits now to host a SHINE Beach Fun Event for children with special needs (closed event) June and in September of 2016, 9am-12pm at Moonlight Beach, Encinitas. This will be a free event for children with special needs. Surf instruction with experienced instructors from Concept Surf Shop, sensory water and sand play, yoga and movement, games with typical peers and local community volunteers, and snacks will be provided. Our hope is to get local community involved by volunteering their time and sponsorship as well as making this event and others like this ongoing throughout the year and on different North County beaches.
The Shine Project Foundation will be attending the Special Needs Resource Fair on May 14, 2016, 9:15am-1pm, Mira Costa College Cardiff Campus. This is a great opportunity for the Special Needs Community to connect with the resources that are available in the community.
We are also in the preliminary stages of planning for our Summer Fundraiser, tentatively on June 11 at the Coastal Music Studios in Oceanside, CA at 6-9pm. Currently seeking donations for our silent auction and food for the event.
We are also planning our Fall Giving Fundraiser in the late September which will be a surfing event to raise money for our programs followed by a Luau with special performances and a silent auction. Registration for the surf event and tickets for the Luau will be available for purchase in the fall.
